Established in the late 1950s, Lake Sequoyah was originally built as a water supply reservoir. It’s now a city park with 1,400 acres of land and 389 acres of water, located off Hunstville Road in south Fayetteville. The area is noted for its plentiful bird population, including Great Blue Heron, American Bald Eagle and Belted Kingfisher.
Fishing and boating permits are required and can be purchased at the marina across the bridge on Lake Sequoyah Drive. No wading, swimming, or belly boats are permitted in the lake.
